WaFunda Income Share Agreement (ISA)

UKZN is proud to partner with WaFunda to present The WaFunda Income Share Agreement – a funding solution designed to help graduates settle their final year university debt without upfront payments or high-interest loans.

Benefits

  • Covers all tuition on your fee statement, books, study equipment, accommodation, (basically anything that is reflected on your final year fee statement).
  • Pay a fair and fixed percentage of your net income for a set repayment period.
  • A maximum payment cap to ensure fair and reasonable repayment for higher earners.
  • No repayments until you’re earning R7,000 or above.
  • Your repayments help fund more students in the future.
  • Additional support: Career readiness, financial literacy, mental health, and recruitment support.

Who Can Apply?

  • Have outstanding university fees of at least R15 000 with a maximum debt of R200,000.
  • Must be in your final year or have already completed your degree.
  • Must NOT immediately be studying further after graduation or receiving your qualification.
  • Must Have a South African bank account.
  • Household income below R600k p/a (or R850k for persons with disabilities).
  • Not over-indebted or under debt review.
  • No Criminal Record.

How It Works

  • WaFunda settles your university debt upfront with the university.
  • You repay a fixed percentage of your salary – only when you start earning via debit order.
  • No repayments while unemployed – just a small service fee (R60).
  • Once the repayment term, repayment cap or contract term is reached, payments stop.
